VisualOn Has Elected Jon Castor to Its Board of Directors

Appointment Strengthens VisualOn's Board in Support of Continued Growth and Profitability

SANTA CLARA, Calif., March 14, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- VisualOn, Inc., a leading multimedia software company that enables high quality video and audio across mobile devices and platforms, announced today that Jon Castor joined its Board of Directors and will also serve as the company's Audit Committee Chairman. Castor brings more than 30 years of entrepreneurial and corporate management experience to VisualOn.

Castor is an expert in developing and executing business strategies for profitable growth and market leadership and he has a strong background in digital media.  He previously served as Chairman of the Board of Directors of Omneon, a leader in broadcast video servers and active media storage. Castor was also the co-founder and CEO of TeraLogic, Inc., a pioneer in HDTV SOCs whose customer investors included Sony, Mitsubishi and Samsung. Castor has served on several public and private company boards and has considerable experience in successful mergers and acquisitions as well as public and private company audit, compensation, strategy and governance committees.

Castor's role at VisualOn will include assisting the board and executive team in developing the infrastructure necessary to support VisualOn's continued growth, and serving as a strategic advisor as VisualOn expands its relationships in the digital media industry.

"Jon brings extensive experience leading companies in the field of digital media technology," said Yang Cai, CEO of VisualOn. "As mobile media consumption continues to rise, we look forward to Jon's insights to help guide VisualOn's growing portfolio that enables our customers to provide high-quality streaming across any screen."

"The fragmented mobile industry represents a challenge for content providers and device manufacturers alike to deliver high quality media across devices," said Jon Castor. "These obstacles present a unique market opportunity for VisualOn to demonstrate its expertise – enabling video and audio media across any device."

In addition to his responsibilities at VisualOn, Castor also currently serves as Chairman of the Compensation Committee and member of the Audit and Special (M&A) Committees of the Board at Steel Excel. He is co-inventor of U.S. patent number 6,246,791, "Picture and Video Storage Management System and Method."
